Review: Although the idea behind We need to talk about Kevin is amazing, I have been put off by the film. While I know that a non-linear way to make a movie is popular these days, often abused - and here it is not being used effectively. Too many times, the movie jumps around in time, and it took me out of the experience. This makes the film does not have to be confusing - so I'm glad that I know the plot, so I can understand what happened. Moreover, in film very consciously artsy style - such as excessive red (tomato fight, stack cans of tomato soup, paint) - resulting symbolism hammer. For me, the story is very strong on its own and does not need all these stars tricks.Tilda Swinton as the mother of a child who is seriously disturbed. But her husband (John C. Reilly) is in complete denial and inexplicably children who have never gone to see a therapist (or Exorcist). As the film progresses, the children grow up from a child Defiant opposition to the cold and ruthless sociopath as a teenager. You never hear about how he is perceived by teachers and neighbors - a strange omission. However, even children killing animals, have a parent in complete denial, sexual behavior and abuse rush towards his sister all very nice touch - I've noticed since I used to work with people like (which would explain why I finally stopped being a therapist and as a teacher). Unfortunately, because the film is out of order, you already know that sooner or later it will all lead to Kevin doing some atrocities.Overall, this is a film that is very interesting, but disappointing . I've talked about the style of the film that left me flat, but I also think it is very strange how the only one who seems to see anything unusual about Kevin is his mother. Even smart sociopaths are significant - perhaps not for everyone, but just obvious to one person? Odd ... The movie is worth seeing, but it just left a mark for me - it can be great.
