Review: Director Baz Luhrmann knew what he was doing when he threw Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Two young actors have the power to captivate their audience, and together, they unsurpassable.From famous opening sentence Two households both alike in dignity .. with a tragic ending, the viewer is whisked away to the depths of the world surreal Verona Beach. Do not expect to see the British people to get around in tight pants when you rent this one. Luhrmann creates a world in which gun toting teenagers sporting Hawaiian shirts and beach earlier dispute is a classic play daily event.Giving modern twist makes for a new understanding of the text and bring the feud between the Montagues and Capulets to a new level. Shakespeare could be rolling around in his grave after seeing this movie, but English classes around the world will be able to breathe a little easier when it comes time to take the R & A final exam for this new adaptation makes the subject very understandable.Danes bring life and encouragement to the character of Juliet. Danes Juliet reaches far beyond the stereotypes of most Elizabethan subordinate character and have the ambition and discernment. Big names also illuminate the credit of R & J Paul Sorvino and Brian Dennehey as Capuleto and Montague and Pete Postlethwaite as a confidence-loving star crossd, Laurence.This Fray is my favorite movie of all time and I think it's sadly underrated.
